Kings are Beheaded, Dynasties come to an end, Empires are Overthrown
Corporations will do no better....
Ok, when you live in America and work as a worker bee creating goods and services and innovation that last thing you want to hear is some CEO saying "There is no god given right to work in this country." By the way that same CEO has no problems with illegals coming over to his/her house to cook and clean for below minimum wage. As Bush would say "..if Americans don't want to do these jobs, then it's ok to have undocumented workers to do it."
Side note, undocumented worker is a word politicians use if they are in favor of having criminals work in this country, hence their stand on immigration. If you want to know how your candidate feels on illegal immigration listen to his/her precise words when they talk about cheap labor. Do they say undocumented worker or illegal alien.
Anyway, my beef is with corporations this week. I feel that they are the root of all evil in this world. It wasn't good enough to make a shit load of money in this country now they are spreading evil throughout the world. They use words like globalization to influence shareholders. Pay lobbyist to pay politicians on the left and the right. That gives way for the politicians to throw bombs back and forth on issues like abortion. The right don't care about abortion. Let me tell you something. If a famous Republican had a daughter that was gang rapped and became pregnant, that daughter would never give birth. More than likely we the public would never know that she was pregnant due to doctor patient rights and therefore would not know that she got an abortion. White daddy would be more than happy to send his daughter over to Europe and get an abortion than to have a black child running around his daughters house. Reminding the family everyday of what happened to their daughter. That is one example of course.
Where am I going with all of this? Simple in school they teach us that if you want to change something in a free society like ours you need to vote and change the party in power.
But how can you do that when in a two party system both parties are in bed with money. (corporations) They both pander to special interests who in turn give them cash to help them get re-elected in the next election. Soft Money or whatever you want to call it is affecting us all. Of course the politicians are squabbling back and forth on an issue called campaign finance reform. But that is only fodder for the American people. You tell the people that you're trying to fix it, but keep saying the other side can't come to an agreement. Typical government grid lock. It's only grid lock because they really don't want to fix it. So, we the people, blame government officials both elected and appointed.
But it's an illusion. The people that are to blame don't get voted into office by the 98% percent of us that work and put money back into the economy. They get voted in by the small amount of share holders who can afford to put money into their companies. They only answer to shareholders and to the board of directors. They have multi-million dollar golden parachutes. They clean out pension funds, sell their private stock in their own company and at the same time tell their own employees to keep investing. Of course we all now know about Enron and Worldcom. But when Gilbert Ameillo asked Steve Jobs to come back as a consultant for Apple. Not only did Steve stab Ameillo in the back with the Apple board of directors and therefore took his job as CEO but sold all stock given to him by Amelio. Even though Gilbert begged him not to sell.
Then the corporations go after blue collar Jane and John Doe in the name of capitalism. Wallmart moves into small town USA, puts all the smaller stores out of business, creates poverty, then when it realizes that their the only game in town, and that they employ almost all the citizens. The same citizens that are now underpaid. (And guess what. Those same citizens aren't putting their minimum wage paychecks back into the store for products.) The employees who are hardworking and responsible are trying to pay for rent, food, and daycare while the less responsible ones get addicted to drugs. So now a profit can't be made at that store. What does Wallmart do? They close the doors and get the fuck out of dodge. Leaving behind a town of drug addicts and poverty stricken people (the number one killer in America) But I digress. CEO's should be held accountable for half the crap that plagues our society. What's next??
I figure within the next two to three hundred years if things keep going the way they are, there will only be rich fucks and poor people. And as the gap widens, the well to do will come up with ways to send off the not so rich to other countries to work. Most likely poor countries. If true globalization happens in every sense of the word, and we become a one world government with the U.S acting as Police deciding who's a threat and who's not and letting the market place decide all political decisions then the little man will be fucked in the game.
But it won't last. You can only bully for so long in this world. The church lost touch with the people, and in the process lost control over society. (Science beat out the church) No one way of government has lasted forever. People who have nothing, have nothing to lose. And once the people figure who the puppet masters are they will go after them. Globalization will create gorilla globalization warfare. It will not be a war based on ideology or on terrorism (although it will be called that from the media) It will be a war pitting the rich against the poor. The poor may have hundreds of millions of people but the rich will have the weapons. And if they manage to have the poor isolated to a certain parts of the world out of reach of themselves then every few years bombs will be dropped and the herd will be thinned. And fear will keep the poor and uneducated in line. I won't say what that is, but lets just say Rome (one of the biggest empires ever) fell. As the fat cats figure this out, they will start sending the poor people off to work in third world countries. After all, what's the difference between sending someone to a small town in Kentucky or to a poverty stricken area in Somelia. Of course they will tell you it's a promotion and if you do well, then you and your family will be asked to come back to the United States. Keeping that carrot just out of reach.
Of course the biggest argument I get on this subject is this. You can't kick U.S. Citizens out of the U.S. Yes, they can. The government can do anything they want. Don't believe me? Want some proof? Ask any home owner whos house lies in the path of a new freeway. They have no choice but to sell their house/property to the government. And most of the time they don't even get the market price. How can they do this. The elected leaders thought this would be good after the start of the industrial revolution. But back then market place dictated where trains would go. That means that if you as a land owner didn't want the train to come threw your backyard on the way to town, then most likely the train wouldn't come to your town but the next. Making that town a place where commerce would most likely happen. And depending how far away that town was, would more than likely make yours a ghost town. Unless of course you had a product that only came out of your town. But in time, you would move operations closer to the tracks and the depot station. But when freeways started to be built no one knew what eminent domain really meant. Until the government came along and said you have no choice. Leave or leave. Your family has owned the farm for 4 generations, to bad get the fuck out. A freeway is being built from this city to that, and instead of going around which would cost hundreds and thousands of dollars we'll just kick you ass to the curb for a few thousand. How did this fare well for big business, easy with freeways in place, the corporations could ship their product by train to the biggest cities and then have trucks transport the product to the surrounding areas via freeways. Which the people pay for with their tax dollars and their property if in the way. Again, big business, paid the left and the right to pass laws like eminent domain that in the long run benefit their bottom line. Kick backs, soft money, buying a million copies of a senators' autobiography is how it works. And it's getting worse. It used to be that to lose your house to eminent domain the land had to go to public use. But like always big business once again stepped in and paid law makers in 1954 to change what the word eminent domain means. Now if a area is termed blighted by the city, you could lose your home. In the February 2004 issue of Realtor I read this, "..Eminent domain could be used to eliminate blighted areas. Since then, public purpose has come to include taking real estate in prime locations from one private owner and transferring it to another private entity-often a business or a developer..." So it comes down to the world BLIGHTED. We already have a synonym stereotype for that word. We come to know it as poor areas. But city leaders can't say that of course. They used to say things like unoccupied houses, condition of the neighborhood, crime and other things that make up a poor neighborhood. That would leed to the term blighted. Now city leaders are looking at certain neighborhoods and saying if a area only has 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house then it can be considered a blighted area. Tear your house down and build a strip mall that will generate more tax dollars for the city and bigger profits for the businesses that move in. Now if you take that same idea, and lets say shoot it out over the next 300 years. You'll have a world much like Germany had during WWII. All the poorest people will be leaving in concentrated areas of the United States. Kind of like all the Jewish people lived in certain areas of a city, forced there by the Nazis. But this time it will be due to economic force not brute force. But in time even that land will be worth something and instead of being sent off to concentration camps the poor people will just be sent off to work in third world countries. Producing shit for the United World formally known as the United States. Then maybe in 500-1000 years there will be an uprising, and at that point we should have establishments on other planets and they (whoever they are) will just nuke or destroy the planet earth and start over again.
Sounds like it can't happen? That maybe I'm just being real negative about the future? Not true. Just study history. It's gets repeated over and over and over again. No two times the same way, but always again and again with different circumstances and different situations. It's no secret that those with superior weapons put to death and extinct those that do not.
The native Americans were killed and put on reservations. And now some of those reservations are starting to make a shit load of cash from Indian casinos. And corporate America is helping them out for a small percentage of the profits. But how long will that last. Greed will set in and they will demand that the casino give them more cash or they will make the gambler pay for it. For example. The public road that takes the gambler out to the casino becomes a TOLL ROAD. And I'm pretty sure the local city tax payers will be paying for it as well. Recent history of ATM card has proven this.
In the mid to late 80's the banks said that ATM cards were optional. They also didn't charge you anything to go inside and talk with a teller. They couldn't do enough to get a person to use a ATM card. Now many years later greed has set in. If you don't use your ATM card at your bank you get charged, not only by the bank or company that isn't your banks ATM, but you get charged by your own bank for not using theirs. They call this some sort of service/processing fee. Processing WHAT? If a person had to do some sort of manual labor on the other end at your bank, I would understand, because you need to pay for their time. But lets face it, it's on done on computers by programs that have long been paid for by your $1.50 processing fee. Let's say you need to talk with the teller, ching, ching, transaction fee to talk with a teller. I suspect that banks will soon start charging you to use their ATMs. Maybe 50 cents or something like that. IF all the big banks do this at about the same time, taking your business elsewhere will do no good. Then IF you decide to take your hard owned cash to a smaller bank that doesn't belong to this racket that would be a good move, but now to use another ATM it's going to cost you 5 dollars instead of 1.50 to make up for the cost. Because you choose to use a smaller bank with only one or two locations, you find yourself using others when in a crunch. Then after paying 5 bucks for that, your smaller bank charges you 1.50 processing fee. All together 6.50 for pulling out 20 dollars. Don't think this will happen? Then let me point to medical coverage.
Used to be that you had a great job if the company provided medical coverage for you and you family at little or even no cost. It was a benefit for working for that company. Something almost all companies did to retain their employees. Since all companies did it, it was no big thing. But when health care started rising, the companies passed the extra expense onto the employees. It's gotten so out of hand, that it's almost, if not entirely cheaper to NOT use your place of employment to cover health care but to take out your own policy for your family. Do I expect the companies to cover the extra costs? No. But I do expect the company to give a person with a family a cost of living wage that would take into account the rising medical cost. Once a company starts charging you for something, EXPECT to pay for more and more of the cost yourself. Ideally an employer would like nothing better for you than for you to cover your own costs. If he/she doesn't need to help pay for your benefits then they take in a little more profit. Because that's money that they don't have to pay out. Since they don't have to pay benefits, they don't have to think about them. You medical coverage went up? That's not their problem, to fucking bad, now go fuck yourself.
